Overview

Our media and the Internet should serve the public interest and enrich our democracy. Instead, too much of today’s media is controlled by a few large corporations that block out community voices and minority viewpoints. That’s why U.S.PIRG is fighting to protect equal access to the world wide web, ensure that cable rates are reasonable, and change the laws  that allow the largest media companies to determine so much of what we see and hear on TV and the radio.




The world’s newest and greatest public forum–the Internet–is being threatened by telecommunications giants who seek to become the gatekeepers with the ability to dictate who can use the Internet, for what purpose, and at what cost.
